Independent Study
We sampled 100 software engineering roles from our database and checked whether each one appeared on LinkedIn Jobs
39% of the sampled roles were not listed on LinkedIn Jobs at the time of the study
That means nearly 2 in 5 software engineering roles at top tech companies in our database were not discoverable via LinkedIn Jobs during the study.
Random sample: We selected 100 software engineering roles at random from our live database, spanning a variety of companies from our catalogue, which included 106 top tech companies at the time.
LinkedIn search: For each role, we searched LinkedIn Jobs, filtering by job title, company, experience level, and workplace type (remote, hybrid, or on-site), and recorded whether a matching listing appeared.
Result: 61 of the 100 roles were found on LinkedIn. The remaining 39 were not found to be present on LinkedIn at the time of the search.
LinkedIn's job listings depend on companies actively posting there. Many top tech companies publish openings directly on their own career pages, and not all of those listings are syndicated to external job boards. Acclaimed.dev sources roles directly from company career pages, so we capture listings regardless of where a company chooses to advertise externally.
This gap may be more pronounced for specialised or senior engineering roles, where direct sourcing from company career pages is a common hiring approach.
Acclaimed.dev is designed to complement your existing job search, not replace it. LinkedIn is a great tool, but our study shows that it doesn't surface every opportunity at top tech companies.
